Season 9 Update 5

Hello everyone and welcome to the 5th Minescape content update of season 9!

This update continues on improving the quality of gameplay by introducing quest revamps on the last 6 old quests, and some other small changes. This update, just like the last is focused on QoL rather than big content.

Quest rework pt. 2

Many of you have noticed that the last update introduced reworks on 10 of the old quests, and with this update we've decided to finish off the last 6 of the original Minescape quests:

  • Crafting a backpack
  • From Flax to String
  • Haunted Manor
  • Hide and Seek
  • Lumbridge Runner
  • The Haunted Library

The quests had minor changes made to them to make them feel smoother and more modern.

New quests

With the old quests out of the way, the team decided to focus on bringing two new iconic quests from the oldschool version of the game:

Witch's House

A boy has lost his ball... It wouldn't seem like a big issue, if he hadn't lost it somewhere near the Witches house!

Head over to Taverley and help out the boy in recovering the ball, but be cautious: A legend says that the experimental monsters found around Morytania have originated in the shed of the Witch.. Could this be true?

Gertrude's Cat

Have you been to Varrock recently? The two kids of Gertrude that like to terrorize the locals have been talking about a problem at home... It seems Gertrude has lost her cat - Fluffs.

This short storyline quest will have you go out on a search mission for the cat for a small reward and eternal gratefulness from Gertrude herself. Are you ready to help her?

Bugfixes & QoL changes

Although the update is small, it still includes some bugfixes and Quality of Life changes:

  • Added a way to leave the Gnome Stronghold.
  • Added a sound when using special attacks.
  • Added course best time and lap counted to the agility skill menu.
  • Added a faster way to purchase Beer from bartenders.
  • Made completed quests glow in the quest list.
  • Test Bow has been removed from /items list.
  • Fixed an issue preventing players from opening ore, essence teleport scroll and gem bags from inside the inventory.
  • Fixed an issue allowing players to obtain a /job asking them to harvest quest only harvestables like Star Flowers.
  • Fixed missing flora around the map.
  • Fixed a broken agility shortcut.
  • Removed agility parkour course spam.

Staff applications

GamesLabs is actively accepting Staff Applications! We are looking for players passionate about contributing to the GamesLabs Network, Minescape, and other exciting projects. We are specifically looking for players to assist on the following teams:

  • Build team: Responsible for bringing the GamesLabs Network to life! Builds include Minescape Points of Interest, Minigames, Network Lobby, Convention Booths, etc. Previous build experience is helpful and preferred.
  • Asset design team: Responsible for creating monster/item models, new UIs, icons, and more! Experience in all these fields is not necessary, but is preferred!
