Season 9 update 3 - Expanding Horizons
Hello everyone and welcome to the 3rd Minescape content update of season 9!
This update brings you over 20 locations, various location build improvements, bugfixes and a lot more! The update focuses on new quests, expanded transportation networks, and new points of interest.
Five new quests
It has been a while since adventurers had to face new challenges, solve puzzles and do anything it takes to help the creatures of Minescape, but today - that changes!
We are introducing 5 new quests linked to content unlocks:
- Nature Spirit
- Fairytale parts 1 & 2
- Tree Gnome Village
- The Grand Tree
Nature Spirit
Drezel needs your help! He'd like you to go on an adventure and bring his friend Filliman Tarlock some food, but it won't be easy: the swamp where he is meant to be found is haunted by spirits and those spirits hate adventurers like you! Prepare to face new enemies, unlock new methods and learn the truth about Filliman!
Successfully completing the quest will award players with 2 quest points, 3000 xp in Crafting, 2000 xp in Defence and Constitution and ability to harvest Mort Myre mushrooms, stems and pears to recharge your druid pouch.
Together with the quest a new crafting method has been added to the game: crafting silver sickles using a silver bar and a mould on a furnace after unlocking it upon reaching level 18 in crafting.
Fairytale I: Growing Pains
Ever since the lost city of Zanaris has been discovered, players have noticed that something is wrong... When visiting Fairy Chaeldar for their slayer tasks, players have started hearing some evil-sounding mumbling from the Fairy Godfather...
Meanwhile on the mainland Martin the Master Gardener has his own problems: Are you able to help him?
To start this quest players must first complete the new Nature spirit quest, have access to Zanaris and enough courage to face a level 150 monster, then talk to Martin the master gardender in the Draynor Village.
Completing the quest will reward players with 2 quest points, 2500 xp in Farming, 2000 xp in attack, 1000 xp in magic and a new farming tool - Magic Secateurs, a new tool for players to use in between shears and hoe.
Fairytale II: Cure a Queen
After a challenging fight you decide to return to Zanaris, and walk by Fairy Godfather except he has not left the throne yet? What is going on!
Players feeling extra adventurous can decide to investigate him and start the new quest by heading back to the Draynor Village where the master farmer may have more information about the Fairy Queens whereabouts.
The quest comes together with many new areas to explore, things to gather and a whole new transportation system - the fairy rings!
During the quest players will be tasked with finding and curing the fairy queen, by doing so - unlocking the new transportation system. Although not all locations will be present with the update, the fairy rings will already take you to 30 different locations!
Completing the quest will also reward players with 2 quest points, 3500 xp in Herblore, and 2500 xp in thieving alongside the fairy ring system unlock.
Tree Gnome Village
General Khazard has been causing troubles to our beloved gnomes for quite a while now, but this time he has caused trouble deep in the Tree Gnome Village. Sadly, the gnomes are not powerful enough alone to hold down the front in the battlefield and to get back the orbs of protection. Can you help them?
During the quest you will be challenged by General Khazard's army, and will have to avoid traps to help gnomes get back their protection orbs to restore the sacred spirit tree.
Completing the quest will reward players with 2 quest points and ability to use the Spirit Tree transportation network all around the world of Minescape!
The Grand Tree
Last, but certainly not least is the Grand Tree quest: The tree is slowly dying and King Shareen needs your urgent help to save his people! Is it a sabotage? Is it something else? Head past the waterfall area and investigate the troubles for a promise of great rewards!
Completing this quest will reward players with 5 quest points, 18400 xp in Attack, 7900xp in Agility, 2150 xp in Magic and access to a new mine together with 2 new transportation systems: The gnome gliders and Hot air baloons!
Both of the transportation systems will take you all over the world of Minescape. Are you ready to do whatever you can to save The Grand Tree?
New features
Transportation methods
Exploration is a very important part of Minescape. However, with each map expansion players have to travel further and further on foot to experience new features, new unlocks. This has been changed with the introduction of 5 new transportation systems:
Spirit Trees
Spirit Trees are a gnome transportation system that utilises ancient tree roots to quickly travel around the world. This system will allow you to travel between:
- Grand Exchange
- Feldip Hills
- Tree Gnome Village
- Gnome Strongholdy
- Battlefield of Khazard
- East of the Poison Waste
- Prifddinas
Canoes
Players shall no longer spend time on walking to oftenly visited locations from Lumbridge all the way to the wilderness without having a high magic level! Canoe system allows players to Lumbridge, Champions’ Guild, Barbarian Village, Edgeville and wilderness.
To use canoes, players will require the following woodcutting levels:
- Level 12 – Travel to one adjacent stop.
- Level 27 – Travel up to two stops.
- Level 42 – Travel up to three stops.
- Level 57 – Travel freely to any stop.
Gnome Gliders
The Gnome Glider network will allow you to swift trough the skies to reach various locations around the map thanks to the talented gnome pilots. Players can now board a glider and fly to:
- Karamja (Gandius)
- Al Kharid (Kar-Hewo)
- White Wolf Mountain (Sindarpos)
- Digsite (Lemanto Andra)
- Feldip Hills (Lemantolly Undri)
- Ape Atoll (Ookookolly Undri)
Hot Air Balloons
Although the usage of hot air baloon network is unlocked from gnomes, the players will be navigating them themselves! This new transportation system will require players to load up on logs and avoid collision when navigating to their target locations:
- Entrana, unlocked at level 20 firemaking
- Taverley, unlocked at level 20 firemaking
- Crafting Guild, unlocked at level 30 firemaking
- Varrock, unlocked at level 40 firemaking
- Castle Wars, unlocked at level 50 firemaking
- Grand Tree, unlocked at level 60 firemaking
Fairy Rings
The great fairies are thankful for helping cure their queen and as a reward, they allow you to use their transportation system - the Fairy Rings!
This new transportation system will currently take you to 30 diffrent location all around the world of Minescape.
Farming
Stop using your hands and grab a new farming tool - secateurs! This purchaseable tool is unlocked at level 10 Farming and provides a slight speed boost for those harvesting crops. Additionally, upon completion of the Fairytale Part 1 quest, players will get Magic Secateurs, an upgraded version of the secateurs providing a farming harvest speed boost better than shears.
New & Updated locations
Mort Myre Swamp
Mort Myre Swap has become more dangerous with the introduction of the new monster: Ghasts. These creatures can only be attacked once the right tools are used. Perhaps Nature Spirit can help you with that?
Tree Gnome Village
The heart of the gnome resistance against Khazard forces has been expanded, offering a deeper look into their hidden sanctuary.
Tree Gnome Stronghold & Grand Tree
The gnome capital has been expanded with new structures, making it a bustling hub for adventurers. The Grand Tree feature, level 37 Agility shortcuts on the western and eastern sides allow for faster travel, though they are locked behind the completion of The Grand Tree quest, new monsters, mining site, and more!
Corsair Cove Resource Area
Three new Agility shortcuts have been introduced: a level 50 shortcut, a level 60, and a level 70. These additions make Corsair Cove an essential location for resource-focused players.
Zanaris Part 2 Areas
Zanaris continues to grow with new locations to explore, uncovering more of its mystical secrets.
Ardougne Farms
Farming plots and sheep areas have been added to Ardougne farms, making it a more viable location for farming.
Keep Le Faye
The stronghold of the mysterious knights now stands fortified, hinting at deeper stories to uncover in future quests.
Barbarian Outpost
This warrior training ground has been introduced!
Witchaven & Dungeon Secret Passage
A dark mystery lurks beneath Witchaven, will you be the first one to explore this area?
Fishing Platform (Not Yet Accessible)
A remote platform stands in the sea, waiting to reveal its secrets in a future update.
Ardougne Sewers
The underground labyrinth of Ardougne’s sewers has been expanded.
TzHaar City: Mor Ul Rek (No Mobs Yet)
The volcanic city of the TzHaar has been introduced.
Lumbridge Cellar
The cellar of the Lumbridge has been finally opened!
Lumbridge Swamp Caves
The murky depths beneath the swamp now feature a new training spot for low level players.
Bandit Camp & Mine to the South
The desert outlaws' hideout now includes an expanded mining area.
Ruins of Unkah
The remains of a once-thriving desert settlement now available for exploration!
Nardah
This desert town has been refined, making it a key location for future quests.
Giants' Plateau
A remote plateau where giants roam, offering a new place to kill them.
Ruins of Uzer & Dungeon
The ancient ruins and their hidden dungeon have been expanded.
Bug fixes
This update fixes various bugs and improves gameplay for a better experience:
- Fixed various spelling errors in guild names and exploration messages
- Fixed dragon metal lump texture not appearing correctly
- Fixed missing Ardougne beacon
- Fixed crafting particles playing when they shouldn’t
- Fixed an issue with item dropping while the backpack is open
- Fixed Lumbridge Cook’s skin issue
- Restored missing foliage in various parts of the map
- Added a night vision effect to the Cave of Ordeals
- Added missing bankers to Falador West Bank
- Updated the description of the Unstrung Symbol
Staff applications
GamesLabs is actively accepting Staff Applications! We are looking for players passionate about contributing to the GamesLabs Network, Minescape, and other exciting projects. We are specifically looking for players to assist on the following teams:
- Build team: Responsible for bringing the Network to life! Builds include Minescape Points of Interest, Minigames, Network Lobby, Convention Booths, etc. Previous build experience is helpful and preferred.
- Asset design team: Seeking digital artists to create monster/item models, new UIs, icons, and more! Experience in all these fields is not necessary!
