Dev-Log #3 Test results & Orbs

This update post was previously posted on GamesLabs.net.

Hello everyone and welcome to the third installment in the Dev-Log series. Our last message told you about the ability to sign up for a test session. We held two test session with you since then and this Dev-Log is here to tell you about our findings. We will also address the question about how your account from the previous version will be transferred into orbs on the new network, since that has been a question we get a lot recently.

Test results

Last thursday you were all eager to test out the latest version of the network, which has let to amazing feedback for us to process. Aside from the changes we need to make, we were also met with positive responses. We really appreciate your support and feedback.

First session

During the first test session we had quite a few issues with lag, which limited a lot of you to be able to fully check out all the aspects of the network. But this also proved why a test session was needed. During and after the first session we improved performance so the second test session could be as smooth as possible. Aside from the lag we got some good bug reports and feedback on the tested games: Minescape, Apocalypse, Arcade(Ghost-run, Quidditch, Bit-trip).

Second session

The second test session went a lot smoother than the first. There was little lag and the players were able to fully experience the games as we intended. During this session minescape and the arcade were tested. The main focus was minescape due to the interest of the testing players. Bugs found were reported and will be processed into the game.

The result

The tests came out great and we are confident the game is ready for a release really soon. However, we did encounter some major optimization possibilities at the core of the game code. This is nothing noticeable for an average player, but it will impact the server when we scale up to cater for a larger audience. In order for us to support this growth, we are switching some things around. In short: Skip has to become a type-goat in order to make sure we can have many people on the server.

BUT THE RELEASE?!

As for a release date: It's getting a tad later (no, not the year 2030, as many of you would like to believe). We are planning on releasing somewhere during the next week. So for now hold your horses. Once we implemented the change we will do a final test session after which we will release the network.

Orb conversion

You have heard in the previous Dev-Log that you will not have your stats transferred. We also promised that no work will go to waste and that's why we are rewarding all players orbs for their hard work. Orbs are the in game currency with which you can buy cosmetics, profiles and force maps. I know most of you are wondering how we will convert your stats into orbs. I cannot give exact numbers because we are still debating the exact amount as we want it to be fair for everyone. However, I will tell you how we will calculate it without going into the specifics. Your orb's will be calculated over 3 categories: Stats, Value and Unused buycraft items.

Stats

You will get x amount of orbs per level achieved in each skill. Aside from this you will get bonuses for every 99 skill you managed to get. Further bonuses might be added but that is still yet to be decided. An example of calculating this would be: You have 1500 total levels and 3 skills at 99. If we choose to give 3 orbs per level you would get 4500 orbs + 3 bonuses. the bonuses can be 500 for example. This would mean you have 6000 orbs from your stats. This is in no way definitive and you cannot withdraw any rights from this calculation

Value

As you played you have earned coins and various items. Each item you have will be valued at shop-sell level and added to your total. We will most likely give you X orbs per 1M coins. This is also yet to be defined and numbers are subject to change.

Purchased items

Aside from your progress in game you might also have some purchased items in your bank or inventory. Each of these items will be valued at their normal shop value. Meaning that if you bought a mystery box at €3, you will get 300 orbs for them, as 1 orb equals €0.01.

We will publish the final calculation of the orb conversion in the nearby future

I WANT MORE ORBS!

Some time today or tomorrow the new store will go live, so make sure to head over there to pre-purchase your orbs and ranks at a discount!

If you already owned a rank on the previous minescape server, you will be provided with a rank of equal or higher value, so wait with the purchase until your information is transferred.
